Mike and Hannah's Wedding at Brookfield Barn | Barn Wedding
Hannah and Mike are my next-door-but-one neighbours. So lovely, kind and thoughtful. They even organised an amazing dinner party to let me know they would like me to photograph their wedding at Brookfield Barn. I was only praying they didn’t change their mind after my kids turned their house upside down. Luckily for me, they didn't!
Mike and Hannah put a lot of effort and planning into their day. After a lot of research they decided that Brookfield Barn will be a perfect Sussex venue to host their summer wedding. I am a big fan of barn weddings- they have an amazing rustic feel to them and are always full of fun! Having said that, they can be tricky to photograph due to low light. But it's what I love and specialise in! Therefore dragging out a stash of flashes to make sure the day (and night) is beautifully lit, is totally my cup of tea! In other words, if you are planning low light wedding or winter wedding, please drop me a line!
Coming back to the venue, I am not surprised Mike and Hannah fell in love with Brookfield Barn. Picturesque location, sweeping views over the lake and those beautiful, handcrafted exposed oak beams created a beautiful backdrop to the day. And what a day it was! Definitely one to remember... and the hottest! But let's not complain, after a not so promising forecast we actually ended up having beautiful sunshine all day long! I must say the heat was a bit of struggle for me. Not every day I get to shoot a wedding in 35 degrees heat being 34 weeks pregnant. So a big thank you goes out to the whole wedding party who looked after me, keeping me cool and hydrated! Alison you were indispensable with your fanning skills :)
The Bride. What can I say? The only words that come to my mind are: gorgeous, stunning, dazzling so pretty.... And let's not forget about the lashes. If I wasn't there I wouldn't believe they are real. Mike you are such a lucky man! Hannah looked absolutely phenomenal regardless which one of the two dresses you would see her in! Yes there were two dresses, equally amazing and equally stunning! We did have a giggle deciding which one is the dress to photograph...
Hannah was getting ready at Bothy Cottage based in South Lodge. From there she was picked up in a stunning white Rolls Roys that drove her to the ceremony at The Holy Trinity Church in Lower Beeding. We did have a small delay, but Mike didn't even break a sweat. Apparently being fashionably late is Hannah's second name :) From there, there was nothing else left but heading to Brookfield Barn and party, party party!
