If you haven’t been to Vietnam yet, you absolutely must go.
Vietnam grabbed us after a couple of days and wouldn’t let go! lt’s hard not to fall in love with the country, it’s culture, the absolutely amazing food, colours and scents. And the Vietnamese people of course; so kind, genuine and helpful.
Did I mention the coffee? Strong, with condensed milk over ice. On every corner… I got addicted!
It is a photographers dream location, wherever you look there is a picture opportunity. From breathtaking landscapes, to food and street photography to capturing people from all walks of life. Sometimes it does cost you a dollar or two though!
It was meant to be a relaxing holiday for my husband and I, but it turned out otherwise. We felt like we needed a relaxing beach holiday, but the more you read and learn about Vietnam the more you have to see! We travelled the country up and down again. From the super hot and humid South to the beautiful, history rich Hue and Hoi An up to mild (only 30C!) and pleasant Hanoi. Exhausting at times, but we loved every minute of it.
We met some amazing people on our way, too short to become good friends, but we really enjoyed the banter and time spent together. After that everyone goes their own way- the sad part of nomadic life.
Our crazy route was :
Ho Chi Minh City,
Mekong Delta – Can Tho by mini bus and short tail
Rach Gai and Phu Quoc Island – by public bus and ferry
Hanoi – on VietJet Airlines
Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay – by mini bus and Chinese junk-esk boat
Hue – by night train
Hoi An – private car
Ho Chi Minh City – on Vietnam Airlines.
The tunnels of Cu Chi – by mini bus
It was a lot to get done in 2 weeks, but Vietnam needs more than that. We barely scratched the surface- there is still loads more to see – as if we need an excuse to go back!
A holiday in Asia isn’t complete without some sounds bites as you are being hustled by the cute entrepreneurs of tomorrow!
"One Dollar!"
“Holiday today. Open your heart, open your wallet”
We finished our holidays having some drinks on a rooftop bar of the Majestic Hotel in Ho Chi Minh watching the sun go down and the city come to life.
Vietnam – we will be back!
PS. We are missing Beef Pho and Summer rolls already!
