Post Wedding session at Zamek, Poznan

30th of December, Poznan… the middle of Polish winter. Freezing cold, but that doesn't matter when you have a gorgeous couple in front of your lens and a post wedding session to photograph!

Marta and Mateusz have been married for almost seven years. They fell in love and on the wave of spontaneity decided to get married as soon as possible. They pulled off their wedding in just four months!

On the day, Marta was wearing her mum’s wedding dress, they had beautiful send off from their friends at their fencing club where Mateusz works as a coach. Everything was as they dreamt of except… they didn't have a professional photographer to capture all those magical moments for them.

Marta wrote to me to enter my Christmas competition where the prize was a free photoshoot. Her story really struck a cord with having 3 kids, being in the middle of buying a new house, her husband’s work commitments, doing her PhD and having no time for anything! She had the dream of reviving their Big Day again, to wear the dress again and to have some pictures of just the two of them that they could frame and hang on the wall of their new house. I couldn’t say no!

For our post wedding session we decided to combine old and new as well as indoor and outdoor locations. Poznan downtown was our backdrop for the first part. We had absolutely stunning soft light, a dream to work with. Marta and Mateusz braved zero degrees temperatures and showed grit and patience with me to achieve the shots.

When I couldn’t move my fingers on the shutter any more we moved into the Imperial Castle, the monumental edifice that used to be the residence of a German emperor as well as the place where Marta and Mateusz saw each other for the first time.
