John and Ali's Wedding at The Griffin Inn, Fletching
After 13 years John and Ali decided it was the high time to tie the knot. However they didn't want to be caught up with all the pressures connected with organising a big wedding. They wanted something simple, yet elegant, but most of all stress free. The couple decided to have a small ceremony at St John The Baptist Church in Clayton, followed by the reception at The Griffin Inn in Fletching.
I met John and Ali, their dogs, Ben and Rupert and a few guests in their house in Chelmwood Gate. John and Ali weren’t the ones to stress on their wedding day. In the morning they managed to fit quite an impressive amount of jobs. From a small shopping trip for some bits and bobs for the long awaited honeymoon through jogging finishing with cutting the grass in the garden!
After a few pre wedding drinks, John and the guests made their way to St John The Baptist Church in Clayton. The church stands in the middle of the big churchyard at the foot of South Downs. It has stunning views to the fields an you can even spot Jack and Jill Windmill from there.
Ben and Rupert were attending church ceremony too! They were supporting John by the altar, while waiting for Ali to arrive.
The Bride turned up to the church in a classic Citroen 2CV, driven by a family friend. She looked rather stunning in her gorgeous Burberry dress and a must have pair of Jimmy Choo’s. Who said simple wedding have to lack style?!
After the ceremony the newlyweds left with the roof down to start their wedding celebrations at The Griffin Inn, an amazing pub overlooking The Ouse Valley.
As it was a lovely sunny day, the guests could enjoy a glass of bubbly and some tasty snacks at The Griffin Inn's back garden. This was when we sneaked out for a few newly-wed portraits, leaving the rest of the wedding party to admiring stunning countryside and watching the sun going down.
John and Ali chose to make their day unique and weren't scared to break the tradition. There was no band nor dancing. There was not meant to be a wedding cake either... However the Mother of the Groom and his Sister couldn’t have that happen! They presented a surprise cake – one of John’s favourites – Caterpillar Cake. Just so he could cut his head off on his special day as he always used to in the past!
Finally, it only leaves me to say- congratulations John and Ali! Your wedding at The Griffin Inn was a beautifully unique and laid back affair...
