Paul and Johanna's Wedding at Chapel Barn, Sussex
Barn Wedding in Sussex
As a Sussex Wedding Photographer, I couldn't be happier when a local couple, Paul and Johanna asked me to photograph their barn wedding at Chapel Barn in Bolney, Sussex.
The couple met on Plenty-of-Fish and decided that fish would be the theme for their wedding.
Paul and Jo put a lot of thought and effort into their fishy wedding preparation. To support their vision of the day they chose to use only local suppliers. Starting from a wedding gown shop, catering, a photo booth and finally a late nigh fish and chip van. They also involved the family and friends to help them make their day truly bespoke and incredible. The Groom and his brothers made a joint effort to create massive P and J letters with lights, a “Pimp my Prosecco” stand, as well as other lovely little details dotted in and around the Chapel Barn. In addition to that Jo's dad baked a fruitcake that was the base of an absolutely stunning naked cake made by a local cake maker, Caroline Ford. I really loved this idea!
The couple didn't forget to look after their guests either. There was an ample of cozy blankets to wrap up into as well as comfy flip-flops for some tired feet.
Paul and Jo got married in a gorgeous church in Cuckfield. Before they tied the knot their lovely kids Harrison and Darcy made everyone shed a tear when walking hand in hand down the aisle with the sign ‘Daddy, here comes Mummy!’. The Bride wore a beautiful Maggie Sottero dress with a stunning lacy veil, that I was struggling to fit into the frame :) The Groom was looking dapper indeed, in an electric blue suit and two tone brogues.
After the ceremony a stunning, white Rolls Royce picked up Paul and Jo and took them to the reception at Chapel Barn in Bolney, Sussex. The plan was to go for a little detour and take some couple portraits by the nearby lakes. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas. The rain was relentless, making it impossible to reach the lakes. But if you think it stopped us from shooting, you are mistaken! Scrap plan A, go to plan B- Rainy Day Wedding. As my daughter says: "Don't say no, have a go!" Paul and Jo definitely had a go! They totally embraced the weather, jumped out of the car in the middle of the field so I could snapped a couple of portraits of them in the pouring rain.
After the speeches, we had a small ray of sunshine appear, when people could go outside and enjoy a 99 with a flake from the ice-cream van. It was a perfect opportunity to get some more shots of the Bride and Groom in the beautiful Sussex countryside.
All that was left to do was party into the night!
There is plenty of fish in the sea, but only one for me - as they say! :)
A big Congratulations to Paul and Jo, thanks for having me.
